Description

Considered the greatest yoga master of the twentieth century, T Krishnamacharya lived for over a hundred years. Apart from being a great master in all traditional philosophies, he was a yoga master beyond compare. Spending a great part of his early childhood in accumulating a wealth of knowledge, from the best universities across India he trekked to Himalayas to spend seven and a half years, learning the intricacies and subtle aspects of yoga from his teacher Sri Rama Mohana Brahmacari.

Following the direction given by his teacher he chose to be a yoga teacher, although he could have pursued any of the many fields, he was an authority in. His contributions to the field of yoga are many, and have taken form as books, commentaries, poems, and in reviving ancient texts. His efforts have been selfless, and the yoga world has benefited much from it.

Yogayajavalkya Samhita is one such work which is an example of his untiring efforts in bringing to life great teaching. In the 1960’s only two versions of this valuable text were available, and both were incomplete or inaccurate. He took the pain of writing the whole manuscript and taught it to his son TKV Desikachar. Yajnavalkya Samhita is a rare and unique work on yoga and has certain ideas that one cannot find in any other work.
